Services

Supporting Families Southland offers the following services. You can download, fill in and send us a simple referral form, or else contact us for further information.

Anyone can send in a referral, whether for themselves or for someone else.

Field Worker Service

Does someone you care about experience Mental Health issues?

You are not alone, one in five people will experience mental unwellness at some stage in their lives and this can impact on family, friends, work and relationships. "We can support you, as you support the one you care for".

Support

Families / whanau and carers, identifying their need for support, and having the courage to ask. Staff listening, offering, hope, encouragement and discussing options. Providing assistance in developing coping strategies.

Advocacy

Working alongside families, whanau and carers as they identify their skills, strengths, and the wisdom to speak for themselves.

Education

Providing learning opportunities for families/whanau/carers and the community.

Information

Offering a wide range of resources and information covering topics around mental health, drug and alcohol related issues as well as self care. Providing links to other community services and agencies.

Community Link partnership

A field worker will be present at the Community Link office (33 Gala Street, Invercargill) from 9am to 1pm on Mondays and Fridays. If you wish to see the field worker, please contact the receptionist at Community Link on (0800) 559 009 to make an appointment.

Children of Parents who have a Mental Illness (COPMI )

Supporting children and young people affected by a family member’s mental illness or addiction. Remember you're not alone, your feelings do matter, it can get better, we can help you by providing:

  • Education: - understanding mental wellbeing
  • Advocacy: - A voice to help you be heard
  • Support: - Someone to listen to you
  • Information: - Access to resources
