About Us

Supporting Families Southland was previously operating as a branch of Schizophrenia Fellowship New Zealand.

The Southland Branch was first established in October 1988, when the branch operated out of a small office in Glengarry, later moving to an office within the centre of town. The move to Spey St and then to 320 Dee St provided the branch with the opportunities to have all its services operating out of the same building. In August 2007, as a result of an increase in our Contract with the then Southland District Health Board, we were on the move again, this time into our current premises at 366 Dee St.

In October 2008 we celebrated our twentieth anniversary; to mark this wonderful occasion, a commemoration banner was painted under the creative guidance of Dunedin artist Janet De Wagt. The Banner was painted by family, friends and staff of Supporting Families Southland.

September 2009, Supporting Families Southland began delivering its services as a fully Independent Branch.
